PRAYER FOR A DISCARDED SAINT

Christopher Pierce

--- wrote to Peter in 1969 that like St. Valentine

Christopher is now a discarded saint.

Who wrote to Christopher, who wrote back,

No --- I am still here,

look Great-I-Am,

here I am,

I'm still hooked to your coattails,

I'm still clinging to your back,

trailing at your ---damn feet,

every step you take I pray,

that you don't walk all over me,

tread on my ---damn soul,

knowing how heavy you are,

knowing the weight of yourself,

knowing how easy it would be

for me to be --- crushed.

I pray to ---

for the people to remember me,

I'm always genuflecting

on how --- breaks my heart

with his ---damn bad memory.

Guess --- doesn't get out much anymore,

must be afraid to travel.

--- didn't like that part, said the Department Head of Blasphemy.
